Why Foundations?
As many friends of this ministry know, we have long desired to expand the ministry to include a Retreat Center (see the Stone Haven links above for more information) which would serve as our "home base." With the purchase of 120 acres of beautiful Ozarks Mountain land, that dream is about to become a reality. With the new direction, we decided it would be a good time for a new name as well, one that better reflected who we are and what we do. We chose Foundations Ministries based on the passage from Isaiah 58, especially verse 12:
"Those from among you will rebuild the ancient ruins, you will raise up the age old foundations and you will be called Repairer of the Breach; Restorer of the Streets in Which to Dwell."
This is, for us, a summary of our Mission Statement. We know that nothing is any stronger than the foundation it is built upon, and we also know that the foundations of our faith - our Biblical/Jewish heritage - the Doctrine of Creation - the basic tenets of historical Christianity - have been all too often neglected, forgotten or treated as irrelevant or unimportant in the search for "unity" founded, not on striving toward common understanding, but on ignoring the differences.
We believe that by "raising up the age old foundations" of our faith, God will help us to overcome the doctrinal differences that separate us and the doubts that plague us, allowing us to become more effective witnesses to the world around us.
With the new name, comes a new web site, with a new look, new content and new resources - so take some time to explore using the links above and let us know what you think.
